Getting started

  • How many goals should I have?

Three or four active at once, at most. The free plan caps you at three deliberately, because the failure mode of a planning tool is a list of twenty things nobody is working on.

    More on Your first week

  • Do I have to use every part of it?

No. Plenty of people use goals and tasks and never touch habits or the journal. Nothing is broken by leaving a section empty.

    More on Your first week

  • Why is my score zero when I just signed up?

Because there is nothing to measure yet. It moves as soon as you have a goal with milestones and start completing tasks.

More on The dashboard and your score

  • Can I hide the score?

Not currently. If it is more discouraging than useful for you, tell us - that is a fair reason to add the option.

Goals, tasks and habits

  • What is the difference between a milestone and a task?

A milestone is a checkpoint you would tell somebody about. A task is a thing you sit down and do. Milestones measure progress; tasks are how you spend Tuesday.

    More on Goals and milestones

  • What happens when I delete a goal?

It goes to the Archive along with its milestones and tasks, and you can put it back for 30 days. After that it is removed for good.

    More on Goals and milestones

  • Can I reopen a goal I marked done?

Yes. Change its status back to active from the goal page. Nothing is lost when a goal is marked done.

    More on Goals and milestones

  • I set a task to repeat monthly on the 31st. What happens in February?

It uses the last day of the month. It is never silently skipped.

More on Tasks, priorities and repeats

  • How do I stop something repeating?

Open the task list and use the stop control on the task. Everything already created stays where it is; only future occurrences stop.

More on Tasks, priorities and repeats

  • Why did my completed repeating task disappear from the list?

It is under the Done filter, and a fresh one has been created for the next date.

More on Tasks, priorities and repeats

  • I forgot to check in yesterday. Can I backdate it?

Not at the moment. Check-ins are for today only. It is a deliberate limit, though a reasonable one to argue with.

    More on Habits

  • What happens to my history if I delete a habit?

The habit and its check-ins go to the Archive together, and come back together if you restore it.

    More on Habits

  • Can anyone in my workspace read my notes?

No. Notes and journal entries are never shared, under any setting. Only goals you deliberately share are visible to a workspace.

More on Notes and the journal

  • Why is there a dot next to Weekly review in the sidebar?

Because it is Friday or later and you have not done this week yet. It disappears when you save the review.

    More on Reviews

  • Can I look at an old review?

Yes. Earlier reviews are listed at the bottom of the review page.

    More on Reviews

Finding things

  • Does search look at other people in my workspace?

It searches your own content only.

    More on Search

  • What happens to my items if I delete a tag?

Nothing at all. Only the label goes.

    More on Tags

  • Can I get something back after 30 days?

No. After the window it is deleted for real, including from backups on their own schedule. If you are unsure, restore it now and delete it again later.

    More on The archive

  • Why does Trends send me to the plan page?

Trends is part of Pro. The page explains it rather than simply refusing.

    More on Trends

Working with other people

  • What exactly can my colleagues see?

Goals you have shared, their milestones, and the tasks under them. That is the entire list.

    More on Workspaces and sharing

  • What can they never see?

Your notes, your journal, your habits and check-ins, your weekly reviews, your score, and every goal you have not shared.

    More on Workspaces and sharing

  • How do invitations work?

You create an invitation and get a link. We do not send the email for you, so you pass it on however you normally would. The link works once, and only for the address it was created for - somebody else who sees it cannot use it.

    More on Workspaces and sharing

  • Can I be in two workspaces?

No. One at a time. Leave the first before joining another.

Bringing things in and out

  • Will it put my tasks into my calendar?

No. It only reads. Writing back may come later, but it is not there now and nothing pretends otherwise.

    More on Calendar

  • I signed in with Google. Does that mean you can already see my calendar?

No. Signing in asks only for your name and email address. Reading a calendar is a separate permission you grant deliberately from the Calendar settings page.

    More on Calendar

  • What columns does it need?

At minimum a column of task names, headed Title, Name, Content or Task. Due, Priority and Project are used when present and skipped when not.

More on Importing from another tool

  • It says it could not find a column of task names.

The first line of the file has to be the column headings. If your export starts with a title row above the headings, delete that row and try again.

More on Importing from another tool

  • Can I import that file back later?

Not as-is yet. The importer reads CSV. Re-importing a full export is a reasonable thing to want and is not built.

AI

  • The sidebar says AI is not set up. What does that mean?

It means this deployment has no AI provider configured, so the features are unavailable regardless of your settings. It is not something you switched off, and everything else works normally.

More on How AI is used here

  • If I turn AI off, do I lose anything else?

No. The weekly review, the score, trends, search, sharing and every other part of the app work identically.

More on How AI is used here

  • Is my journal sent to the AI provider?

Only if you have AI on, the journal reflection feature on, and you press the button on a specific entry. It is off by default and never runs on its own.

More on How AI is used here

  • What is the daily limit for?

Fair usage, enforced on our side. Your plan sets it, and you can see what you have used on the AI settings page.

Your account

  • I have lost my phone and my recovery codes.

Contact us at info@kwistech.ca. Recovery codes are stored one-way, so nobody here can read them back to you - re-establishing access has to be done carefully and by hand.

More on Passwords, two-factor and devices

  • Why do you ask for my password to turn two-factor off?

So somebody who walks up to your unlocked laptop cannot quietly remove it.

More on Passwords, two-factor and devices

  • Can I end the session I am using?

Not from the list - use Sign out for that. You can end every other session at once, which is the right move after using a shared computer.

More on Passwords, two-factor and devices

  • I changed the theme and nothing happened.

The choices save when you press Save preferences at the bottom of the page - selecting a radio button on its own does not save it.

    More on Appearance and accessibility

  • What does the interface language change?

The interface itself: navigation, buttons, labels and headings. Anything you have written stays exactly as you wrote it, and the legal pages stay in English, because a mistranslated privacy policy would be worse than an English one.

    More on Appearance and accessibility

  • Does reduced motion do anything if my device already asks for it?

Your device setting is respected on its own. The switch is there for people whose device does not ask but who would still rather have less movement.

    More on Appearance and accessibility

  • What happens to my data if I go back to the free plan?

Nothing is deleted. Goals beyond the free limit become read-only rather than disappearing.

More on Plans, referrals and billing

  • How do I delete my account entirely?

From the bottom of the Account settings page. On a paid plan you can choose to keep access until your renewal date and have everything deleted then; on the free plan it happens immediately.

More on Plans, referrals and billing

  • Do you ask why I am cancelling?

Once, optionally, and you can skip it. Only counts by reason are ever looked at internally - never your name against an answer.

More on Plans, referrals and billing

  • Can support look at my account to help me?

Not at your content, no. We can see that your account exists, what plan it is on, and security events like sign-ins. If a problem needs us to see something you have written, we will ask you to show us.

Why Us

  • Do I need all of them?

No. Most teams get the most out of the problem explainer and the objection handler, because those two cover the start and the stall. Build the rest when a deal shows you the gap.

More on What Why Us is for

  • Does the app write these for me?

No. It tells you what each piece has to do and schedules the work. Writing and producing it is yours.
